Hello all. I don't see dollars on this forum much and don't want to ask an inappropriate question. But, what is the average compensation to teach an online course? As an assumption, let's say we averaged Capella, UofP, Northcentral, Walden, etc. for a business course of some kind, like accounting, finance or marketing. Thanks
In my experience at several on-line programs, pay in the $1,800 range for a six week on-line course (assuming 12 or so students) is fairly typical. On-ground typically pays more, but often involves longer terms. Regards - Andy
In my experience with several on-line programs, pay of $1,800 per 6 week term is fairly common. Typical enrollments are around 12 students per section. You can make more on-ground, but terms are longer. With 6 week terms, there can be as many as 8 terms per year. Regards -Andy
The original question was about business, which Andy has addressed. For those in health and life sciences, it seems like $1500 per 6-week term is fairly typical. Alex
adjunct pay When I was at FSU in Tallahasse Florida in 2002, the community colleges in the area were offering those numbers, or less, for typical 15 week semester B & M classes. While I realize it's very low in any event, it seems comparable to community college level compensation. What's different is the duration of only 6+- weeks. Not sure whether this is better or worse. I guess there is much more intensity in the constrained intervals? Is anyone doing 14-16 week terms on an online basis? Would this be a different pay level? Thanks all.
forgot to ask sorry, I forgot for either 6 or 15 week course terms, how many hours would an instructor put into these courses? I realize noone will get rich doing it, but I'm wondering how much time to allocate if I decide to pursue an online teaching opportunity.
