    Hello Everyone!

    I will be returning to college to complete my undergraduate degree ( prefer Liberal Arts, Communication degree) and I have the following questions;

    I've done research and I'm looking for a REPUTABLE Regionally Accredited university that offers an accelerated online program.
    (Preferably a well known State University)

    Do you know of any university or resources that offers the following;

    -An accelerated program that allows you to test out of the basic, core general education credits.

    -An accelerated degree with a shorter course schedule, I.e., fewer than the 16 week average.

    -An Accelerated State school with a good name. University of Phoenix, etc is not what I'm looking for as their private and expensive.

    Although I'm open to a private college that meets my requirements and is not too expensive.

    ****I did find MANY good State colleges that offer online degrees, however, they are NOT accelerated and don't offer ways to test out of G.E., etc.

    Just as a note, I attended AIU for 2 quarters and dropped out due too many reasons. I'm not interested in UOP, AIU, NYIT, Excelsior.

    Thank you so much!!

    Empire State College (SUNY) might be an option. A site search will reveal a few threads on ESC in these forums.

    I don't know about accelerated courses at ESC but there are options for obtaining credits that may suit you.

    As the previous poster mentioned, Empire State College might be a good choice. It is possible to test out of up to 90 credits (actually 88, they have 4 credit classes and require a minimum of 30 credits through ESC), and they have accelerated, online 8 week classes.
    Columbia College (MO) allows trasfer of 90 credits, of which 60 can be testing credits, and has accelerated 8 week online courses.
    Indiana University SCS allows one to test out of up to 90 credits and has a wide variety of independent study courses that you can complete at your own pace.
    Penn State World Campus allows one to test out of up to 60 credits. I believe that they also have independent study courses that can be completed at your own pace.
    Upper Iowa University allows up to 90 credits earned through testing. They have 8 week online courses, but you need to have all general education requirements met to enroll in the online program.
    Montana State Billings has an online communications degree. They also allow for up to 90 credits through testing. I don't believe that they have accelerated classes.

    I believe that all of the info above is correct, but I am doing this from memory based on school literature that is at least a year old. So, although this is might be a good starting point, please confirm these facts with the schools you investigate.

    Good luck,
    Tony
