I'm an international school teacher based in Indonesia.

    I hold a BA and an M.Ed.

I'm looking for a good distance doctoral program. I've looked at Capella and some British schools.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

    Thanks,

    Bill

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has a doctoral program as does Walden University and Nova Southeastern University. Most of the well known Australian universities have doctoral programs in Education as well.
    Good luck.

I'm looking for the most reputable distance degree out there.

I already hold an M.Ed and have years of teaching experience around the world.

I'm not afraid of the price or the work to be done.

BTW: thanks for the quick reply.

    I've heard back from Capella?

Are they really the 'best' distance provider in the U.S.? Very expensive!

I'm looking for a demanding program, as I already hold a top notch M.Ed.

I'm also looking at U.K. schools.

    Help!

"Best" is a highly subjective term. Any university might try to make the case that they are the "best" provider. University of Nebrasksa-Lincoln would likely be the most highly regarded U.S. program of those mentioned. Nova Southeastern probably offers the most doctorates by distance, with Walden second. Capella's program is growing, as is its reputation.

Other programs that you may wish to consider are Fielding Graduate Institute, Union Institute and University and Touro University International. Northcentral University has a new doctoral program in education. It is too new to have much of a reputation yet, but is accredited.

A number of non-U.S. universities--such as Edith Cowan U., U. of Southern Queensland, Flinders U. and the U. of Melbourne in Australia, University of South Africa and Open University of the UK--are all highly regarded.

Best of luck in your search.

As Tony suggested, it's frequently difficult to say which program is "best" as this depends on how this is measured and who is doing the measuring. It may depend on how you hope to use the degree. Perhaps you can do some digging and get these various schools to tell you how their graduates fared once they hit the job market with their PhDs. Sometimes an alumni association has that sort of info. Good luck,
    Jack

Northcentral University, Prescott, AZ has a doctorate in education in several areas. They are accredited by Northcentral, the regional agency.

    Capella University

    Hi Bill,
I too have a BS in Education and an M.Ed. I am currently enrolled in the Doctoral program in Education Psychology at Capella. I can't say enough about the university. I am extremely happy with the program and the contact I've had with the professors and advisors. Distance learning can be frustrating at first, but once you get used to the format, you will love it.

    Best of Luck to you,
    Lisa
