    Hello,

Below is the Military passing rate on English Composition of FY2004. It looks that Excelsior College English Composition is much easier than CLEP English Composition.

EXAM SUBJECT PASS CRD # PASS RATE
    CLEP General:
    English Composition (without Essay) 50 6 4242 28%

    CLEP Subject:
    Freshman College Composition 50 6 1554 50%

    Excelsior College Exam:
    English Composition C 6/L 338 94%

Does anybody know why the rate is much higher than CLEP? I thought that everybody said Excelsior College English Composition is the hardest exam compare to TECEP, CLEP Freshman and CLEP General Exam.

    Thank you for the input.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I wonder where they get these pass rates! I've taken 11 CLEP, 5 DSST, and 7 TECEP exams, and I've never even come remotely close to failing one.

Your numbers show that substantially fewer people took the ECE test than the CLEP. Perhaps this is a case where the people who self-select to take the ECE are more likely to have adequately prepared for the exam than those who attempt the CLEP? Also, there is probably some overlap between those who took and failed the CLEP, then prepared really hard and passed the ECE so that they didn't have to wait 6 months to get their English requirement out of the way. Of course, these are all just theories...
