The University of Southern California (USC) has a wide variety of MS and MEng degrees, plus an Engineer degree, that they offer by distance learning. Academic programs include biomedical, computer, aerospace, mechanical, and electrical engineering areas.

Check out the following site for more info:
    http://den.usc.edu/

(The Viterbi School of Engineering offering these degrees is ranked #6 engineering graduate school by US N&WR for 2005.)

I think that these USC programs are very cool indeed.

They are expensive, as Mike points out. But I suspect that the great majority of their students are corporate-sponsored. (They also offer several custom engineering programs on-site at Southern California firms like Boeing and United Technology.)

I'd also guess that it's all pretty selective.

They are actively expanding their lineup of DL offerings. They have added several new degree programs since I last looked. The list (see bottom of this post) is truly impressive.

I was interested to see that they now offer the Engineer's degree in electrical engineering by DL. (An EEE degree!)

A minimum of 30 units of course work beyond the MS degree...

    Qualifying Examination
The candidate must satisfactorily complete a qualifying examination prepared and administered by his/her Guidance Committee. This examination is usually oral and is generally taken during the final semester of course work toward the degree...

    But no dissertation.

Here's the impressive roster of DL degree programs:
    ..............

Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering

Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering (Astronautics)

Master of Science in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics)

can anyone explain why is it more accessible to find grad engineering degrees via DL while the undergrad offerings are scarce or non-existant?
I only found the University of North Dakota's program for undergrad engineering, and they have summer residency requirements for physics labs.
