Friends: are you aware of any DL R.A. graduate program in law/ legal studies other than California University of Pennsylvania's (www.cup.edu)? I realize there are quite a number of criminal justice programs out there, but they are not exactly what I'm looking for. Also, if anyone has experience with CUP's master's program in legal studies, I'd love to hear from you. thanks, matty
Not quite legal studies/not quite criminology http://unex.uci.edu/distance/mas-cls/index.asp Try the Master of Advanced Study (M.A.S.) in Criminology, Law and Society from the University of California - Irvine. It isn't exactly legal studies but is a little different from the average criminal justice curriculum. There are also a handful of public policy programs out there. What exactly are you looking for?
Thanks, airtorn. This is the first I've heard of UC Irvine's program. Very interesting; I will certainly spend some time reviewing the site. Boy, I'd love to avoid having to take the GRE, but would not rule it out if the program was the perfect fit . I'm looking for a general law and society graduate program-- my interests are in criminal law and procedure, Constitutional law and the Bill of Rights, and religion and the law. The jurisprudence and social policy at Cal-Berkeley and the law and social policy program at NYU are good examples of the kinds of programs I'm attracted to. I've considered working with Vermont College/ TUI in designing a program loosely based on the two mentioned above, however am still in the searching process. I quite like California University of Pennsylvania's master's program, however wanted to see what else was out there before making any sort of decision. Thanks again, matty
http://www.esc.edu/grad The M.A. in Social Policy might meet your needs. It would probably depend on how you could structure the emphasis area.
We had a thread on the Irvine program a while ago. See http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3026
thanks oxpecker/ airtorn: thanks very much. i will look closely at the empire program as well as read through the irvine thread. best, matty.
