Math & Physics DL courses

I've applied to the University of Vermont for a masters of education with high school teaching licensure, in the fields of math and/or physics. My undergrad degree is electrical engineering. I expect the education courses to keep me too busy to attend any traditional in-class math or physics classes, so I'm looking for some DL classes. A U. of VT professor already indicated this is OK.

I've looked around, for example at U. of Iowa or U. of Wisconsin, and most of what I find is just a review of what I already know. I'd like to find some upper-division courses to round out my knowledge. Any suggestions?

I never found very many beyond diff. eq. and linear algebra. The University of Texas has an introductory number theory course. UWEX had one in topology, but it appears to have been dropped.

Undoubtedly you noticed that many of the U. Idaho courses were created especially for the MAT program and the content apparently is less rigorous than the similarly named course in the math department.

I recall that one of the other schools offering d/l engineering master's degrees had upper level math courses avaiable, but the school escapes me for the moment. Possibly Georgia Tech or Alabama.

    Gerry,

In addition to the more well known programs at Idaho and Montanta State (mathematics education) and Colorado State (statistics), you may be interested in the new program at Texas A&M. It is an MS in mathematics with an emphasis on mathematics education, and it is available completely on-line. Graduate courses currently include linear algebra, geometry, and history of math.

I had considered taking some classes in this program myself, but my schedule does not easily accommodate the deadlines of a standard academic term.

The University of South Africa also offers distance learning programs in math, math education, and statistics. For your situation, perhaps the honors bachelor's degree would be especially appealing.
