There has been ample discussion on this board concerning UNISA and the difficulty communicating with them. Some theorized this was a problem primarily experienced by foreign students. Recently, I met my supervisor (who is South African) for the first time at a conference where both of us had papers to present. She related to me that she had started her PhD with UNISA but after her proposal sat on a secretaries desk for 15 weeks with no action she switched to another school. So, you can be assured that if you are being ignored it is not personal. It is just the way it is.

Also, for people looking for conference or publishing opportunities, I highly recommend the Conference on Emerging Issues in Business and Technology sponsored by Western Illinois University in October of the year. It is a multidisciplinary conference (not confined to business) and aggressively recruits participants. The were 81 papers from 12 countries at the one I attended and it is in Myrtle Beach which is a plus as well.

Thanks for the post. I checked the WEB site for the conference http://www.wiu.edu/EmergingIssues/ and the 2004 papers are not posted yet (but the 2003 papers are).----Jim

    Publishing

All accepted papers are published in the conference proceedings and are reviewed for publishing in one of three journals. I am hopeful as my paper was one of the few eligible for all three journals. There were several Post Grad students there including a PhD student from Nova. Excellent opportunity to network and present if that is a requirement of your program.

Yikes... Myrtle Beach! A crowded place indeed! but loaded with good eats! If you have never been to any "grub" joints in Calabash, just a few miles north, try them out. But if you really feel like an adventure ease a little further north and gorge yourself silly in Long Beach N.C. at "Jone's"....between Wilmington and Myrtle beach.
    Best, Gavin
