I was at the Kennedy-Western University website and discovered that their programs are NOT available to California residents? I'm not planning on getting a degree there, but I was wondering how this ban occurred.
Warguns, I do not want to seem vague, but...Where have you been? KW has not been available to oregon or California residents for at least a year that I know of, not to mention the Oregon controversy that has plagued discussions here. There is alot of info on them that is recent and updated.
Kennedy-Western was authorized to operate in California back when the state had a category by that name ("Authorized") that allowed schools to operate with little or no scrutiny by the state. When California eliminated that category in 1989, it required such schools to become "Approved" or move out. Kennedy-Western did neither. So California enjoined K-WU from offering degree programs to California residents. (Why they didn't take legal action to close the school's Southern California operation is beyond me.) All of this--and much more--is available by searching this board.
The website hasn't allowed inquiries from California at least since Year 2000, according to my recollection. Dave
Degree mills frequently don't accept "students" from the jurisdiction that they operate from. It helps them to avoid entanglements with law enforcement.
Re: Re: kennedy-western NOT available in California? Actually KWU chose not to enroll California residents in an attempt to avoid California law and notified the State of this action. So far, the state has not challenged this action. But KWU was never enjoined.
