And my favorite line in the whole piece was:

"When a state inspector checked, Barrington University also had moved out of its listed headquarters at A&S Answering & Secretarial in Mobile"

Yes, but I'm sure it's a very large answering and secretarial service!

I was really impressed, Tom, when I checked them out. Three part-time secretaries, 27 answering machines with Wal-Mart sale stickers still on them, and a very large and impressive mail-box on the outside.

I don't understand why Barrington University would want to move from such a convenient location. Oh Well! Such is the world of DL! [IMG]

In 2000, Virtual Academics (Nasdaq: VADC) reported 12 employees. 42% of the company's revenue went to the Founder/CEO's salary.

Nevertheless, VADC somehow found it possible to operate nine different operations (that's 1.33 employees for each one) including Barrington University, the Universidad Hispanica de America and Alston University. The latter claims to be in Stockton CA, but the BPPVE doesn't approve of it and it apparently is operating illegally.

I guess that Virtual Academics is to academics what virtual reality is to reality.

Dispite all this, people are still buying VADC stock though. Damn, I love the stock market!
