I am looking for some help in unofficially determining whether EC is likely to accept certain courses for the Humanities distribution requirement. Here's my specific dilemma. I have the following courses on my Indiana University transcript

    -ENGLISH

    W131 Elementary Composition 1
    W231 Professional Writing Skills
    W350 Advanced Expository Writing

    -COMMUNICATIONS AND CULTURE

    CMCL C122 Interpersonal Communications

    -AFRO AMERICAN STUDIES

AFRO A210 The Black Woman in America

Since Excelsior doesn't allow "double dipping"...using one course to satisfy two requirements, one of the English courses will surely satisfy their Written English Requirement. However, is it likely that one of the other four classes will be designated as Humanities.

    Any help/direction would be appreciated.

My best guess is the AFRO A210 The Black Woman in America class has the best chance of satisfying the Humanities requirement.

Just an FYI - Charter Oak does allow "double dipping"

AFRO A210 would count as a humanities courses. I am not sure if interpersonal communication would count as a humanities course.

Humanities courses would include literature, history, philosophy, ethnic studies, art history, religion, music, drama, etc.

Just ask--does this course have any employment value whatever?
If the answer is no, it's humanities!

Best of luck to you. Welcome aboard.

    (MDiv, a humanities field)
    (MA, yet another humanities field)

One could be a teacher, especially an elementary school teacher. Other than that, I don't know what I would do with a humanities degree.
