Does anyone know if you can apply to the FBI with a Cj degree from American Military Univ.??? The FBI applicant page says that it has to be accredited by "one of the six accrediting bodies of the Commision on Institutions of Higher Education"??

You can always apply. I think your question relates to whether or not the FBI will recognize such a degree. IIRC, yes.

Actually, the FBI says it has to be a RESIDENT degree from one of the six accrediting bodies.

    "If I recall correctly, yes."

I seem to remember this topic being under discussion on this board. Perhaps a search would reveal something?

What is the source for this?

I thought someone posted on this board information that indicated the FBI would accept nationally accredited schools' degrees, too.

These are the educational requirements taken directly from the F.B.I. :

Applicants must possess a four-year degree from a college or university accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education.

Educational requirements will vary from occupation to occupation within the FBI (and other federal agencies). A Special Agent is the nomen used by the FBI and does not connote "Special" status. Although it can be argued that the FBI is certainly a premier law enforcement agency. If you will examine their other specialities (Engineering, Law, medical, for example) you will notice a different academic accreditation standard.

If the link doesn't function go to www.usajobs.opm.gov and do a search by agency and job title.

For most positions within the governemnt any RA/NA degree will suffice, for those with a positive educational requirement you will need to meet the announcement criteria.

It looks like we have two conflicting sources. One indicates a nationally accredited degree will do, the other indicates the degree must come from a regionally accredited school.

I'm sure anyone who actually cares about this could check with the FBI.
