Does anyone know what college/university programs, aside from Ashworth College and Education Direct, accept DETC high school diplomas? (All colleges quite naturally require that you have one as an admissions prereq)

I have a friend who just completed her high school diploma via Education Direct and now wants to attend a DETC accredited college. Would be fair to assume that most detc accredited colleges and/or those listed on the detc.org's website would indeed accept a DETC high school diploma? It'd make sense to me since these schools are DETC accredited but I don't want to give her the wrong info as i'm still learning all there is to know about distance education and the various programs out there myself.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

When I was writing "Bears' Guide to Earning High School Diplomas Nontraditionally," I did an incredibly unscientific survey of the acceptability of DETC high school diplomas. I called, I believe, twenty regionally-accredited colleges around the country.

The vast majority would accept a DETC diploma with no hesitation. My guess is that if RA schools will accept them, it is likely that DETC schools will accept their own.

I earned a DETC acredited HS Diploma from Citizens High School 18 years ago. I have since attended a community college (RA), taken classes at LSU (RA), applied to both Briercrest Bible College (RA) and Liberty University (RA), discussed enrollment criteria with Columbia Southern (NA-DETC), Moody (RA), Tennessee Temple (NA), Trinity (RA Candidate), and Global (NA-DETC), In ALL cases, the DETC HS Diploma was acceptable.

Both are DETC accredited, but also have:

James Madison High School (Part of PCDI) is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Thomson High School (Part of Education Direct) is accredited by Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools.

These are the same agencies that accredit your local High schools and you should have not a problem getting to College or University.
