Source: http://www.themastersinstitute.org/faq's.htm (both fo the quotes). Not that I am disrespecting this seminary (actually, they seem like nice guys), but you can also buy priesthood titles through mail order or eBay (by the way, it was a lot of fun searching for it on eBay - it feels really weird to go to eBay, and in the box "what are you looking for" to write "doctorate").
Wineskins (trite) or Whineskins (truth) Bunch of "Lutheran" and post-Lutheran pietists making excuses for academic sloppiness on the basis of religious fervency. Bull! The tiny and ultra-Pietist Lutheran Brethren seminary, far too small to be accredited, is rigorous and pulls no punches. (Not to mention North Park & our pal Boydston...) So Pietism is no reason for nonaccreditation, just a verbal gimmick. This "we choose not.." is hooey. From separatist Baptists or strict confessional Lutherans I could see it. But these guys are charismatic/suburban utterly nonseparatist. Their use of Biblical verbiage to escape the moral--yup, moral--issue of accreditation seems shoddy. I don't get these guys at all, but then I'm an ole Gnesio, so whaddya expect? Uff da!
They probably could have picked a better name. http://www.degreeinfo.com/static/forum_archive/1/1005/thread_1005_page_1.html http://chronicle.com/free/2002/01/2002012501u.htm http://www.dca.ca.gov/press_releases/20010307.htm http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2001/03/05/daily26.html http://www.metroactive.com/papers/metro/10.16.97/cover/masters1-9742.html
Well, I am tempted to go for this one. But you only have a couple of days to look at it before it is gone....well, unless I go ahead and get it. Then it will be gone sooner. clint
Am sure they would be accredited but they don't want the FDA to dictate the ingredients they use. Wonder if a payment plan is available.
Re: Wineskins (trite) or Whineskins (truth) We have some Bible schools with similar goals -- but they don't offer degrees and certainly not an MDiv. Some of the faculty members are quite impressive -- e.g. Greg Boyd is a big name. I suspect that this school will evolve as time goes by -- that is, if it is going to survive.
Ignore this post unless you like Lutheran jargon. Ah HAH! First synergism, then unionism, now evolution!
