Basically, what I'm trying to do is accelerate the time it will take me to get an MBA. I have two years of general education and business courses at local community and sate colleges, and have taken a few cleps.

What I was thinking of doing is transferring the credit I already have to Excelsior and completing a bachelor's in business using the method detailed on bain4weeks.com. I am very good at tests and not worried about getting the bachelor's degree. However I'm just wondering how far that bachelor's will get me...

Don't get me wrong, I think DL is a wonderful and credible way to earn a college degree, however, most of the general public sees otherwise. (And I don't see their minds changing anytime soon... )

So, I guess what I am asking is, If I get a bachelor's in business from Exclesior will I be able to get into a local state college's MBA program. I don't want to get into some wonderful school like Harvard, just a basic state funded university here in North Carolina. I guess this will be my way of deceiving future employers by padding my excelsior degree with a degree that they (NOT ME) will see as more legitimate since it will come from a school that they have heard of. I know it's sad that one must do this, but let's face the reality that most people do not give credit to DL.

What will the transcripts from Excelsior look like? I understand that they grant letter grades for all of the credit by examination exams, and that is great. But, will the transcript specify that the majority of my degree was completed by testing out?? Will the colleges that I apply to in order to get an MBA accept this degree?

Any responses are greatly appreciated, especially from people who have done something similar to what I am planning on doing.

And please understand that I am not saying that distance education is inferior to the more traditional schooling methods. The problem is that most people (employers) do not know enough about it since it is such a new thing.

There are several people that have done this quite effectively and went ahead to graduate school, hopefully the will pinch in later! Also you can do a power search on this.
