I am an Excelsior College student. When researching the school, I read a number of positive things. However, I would like to know if anyone has experienced or heard negative feedback related to Excelsior. I'm considering entering a grad school in the US and would like to know what people's experience has been.

    Thanks.

An Excelsior degree is a ticket to graduate school about like any other. The keys to graduate admissions usually are: 1. GPA, 2. GRE, 3. Writing sample and 4. letters of recommendation. The fact that the degree is from Excelsior shouldn't be a problem. If your goal is graduate school, and you want to get there sooner than later, then Excelsior is a good choice. The school catalog lists some of the more prestigous graduate schools that have accepted Excelsior degrees. You can also look at the school's alumni magazine, "Live and Learn" which lists short bios of Excelsior grads, many of whom have gone on to graduate programs. Personally, I had no trouble getting into graduate school with an Excelsior degree.

    Good luck.

I have an associate who graduated from Excelsior and from there, he went to Webster University where he received a Masters degree. He is now enrolled in Argosy University's doctoral program.

I would like to mention that I am also a Excelsior College graduate (B.S.), which I just graduated this summer 2004.

And I am already considering graduate school...and after looking into a couple different schools and online Masters programs, and especially what I want to major in, Excelsior College has the right graduate program for me.
The Masters Of Arts in Liberal Studies, option #4 self-design is exactly what I have in mind.

There is no GRE required, and the application for admissions is quite easy and fair.

Plus, you can transfer in up to 15 semester hours of previous graduate course work into the program.:D

It is a wonderful school, and the advisors are great...especially the Graduate Liberal Arts advisor...she is a wonderful and helpful individual.

I have to agree with anothym that GPA, GRE, and an adequate base of preparatory classes (in majors where it's important) will get you into grad school without a problem. As a single data point, I leveraged an Excelsior undergrad degree into acdceptance at a top 5 computer science grad school (University of Illinois)
