Hi everyone, I'm new to the board. I've just discovered this site today and have read and re-read a ton of postings. I started taking online classes about a year ago with DeVry University. I wish I knew this well of information was available to me before.

A few months ago I left DeVry because I felt their general lack of support (in every way, including customer service) and the lack of a good reputation did not warrant the enormous cost per credit to attend. After doing some research on my own, I decided to enroll at a private Jesuit school in Denver - Regis University. (I'm completing coursework for a business admin degree, bachelors)

They are somewhat less expensive, but I'd really like to hear if anyone here has had any experience with the school or heard anything about it. This may be a reach, but after my experience with DeVry, I still have doubts about the legitimacy of online programs, especially where tuition costs are considered.

Thanks in advance for any insights or advice you may be able to offer.

    Hi Will

Regis has an excellent reputation from everything I've heard. When I looked through their graduate catalog I was impressed and got the impression they take their job very seriously.

I am a bit of a critic when it comes to schools like U of P and AIU. I would have no trouble signing up with Regis.

You may also want to use the search feature. I believe a couple of Regis students have commented in the past.

I visited Regis U campus laster while in Denver for some training. The college campus looks beautiful with rocky mountain range in the backdrop. I have also heard good things about the schools. Its not a "online-only" school.

I completed the MBA through Regis by taking online courses. If you have any specific questions about the program, post them here and I'll do my best to answer them for you.

    Excellent school

I'm a 2001 graduate of Regis University in Denver and I'd highly recommend the university. It was an excellent experience and education for the price *very reasonable*.

I finished my undergrad w/Regis about 2 years ago, on campus.

Was very happy with the school. Can't speak for the online program, but I definitely felt challenged and felt it was a good decision.

Also, RU has been ranked regionally for 9-10 years straight by U.S. News. Believe we were 26th for 2004-05 for the Western region.

I have a degree from a Jesuit university and taught for many years at another one. At both of those institutions, Regis was regarded highly. I never heard a bad word about the institution or its programs.

I can't speak to the online experience, but the Jesuits put a strong emphasis on educational quality. I would be interested in hearing the opinions of students who have experienced them online.

Of course, taking courses online means missing the mountain vista. ;)

I am sorry you had that experience with Devry University. I teach at Devry University-Houston and I give it my all every night. I care about my students very much. Now of course I teach at the campus level, not online. I know we take great pains to help our students here succeed. I cant speak for your problems with the online part. If you want to PM me, I can see that the complaint gets to the right people.

    Dear Will-

I live in the Denver area, and I've dated women at Regis University - one doing the undergrad business admin degree, and one doing the MBA. Now, admittedly, neither is doing it DL - but the quality is there and does justify the cost.

If you want that Brick and Mortar patina, there are many worse places to get your degree. Complaints about Phoenix and DeVry (for profit operations) are quite widespread. Nonetheless, I believe for-profit learning ha a niche - apparently just not the one you need!

So I say give it a try. You can always reverse course as needed. (And don't anybody ague that nobody ever does that!)

    DeVry Online

Will, I may teach online at DeVry soon and would be interested in knowing your concerns while enrolled so I may be on the look out. Thanks

    I considered Regis...

I applied and was accepted "conditionally" into their online masters program in IT. Nothing seemed to be easy about getting in, so they apparently don't let any old joker sign up. I did not enroll because I decided to go with an MBA rather than an IT masters and decided to look elsewhere. That said, I did not decide against Regis because of any weakness in their reputation. I just wanted an AACSB MBA.

I have heard lots of good stuff about their programs and my mother (who lived in Denver) said the campus is really beautiful. I think it is a wise choice for a degree. Plus, they are part of JEBNET, which is a Jesuit school network that accepts credits without question among its schools, including Georgetown, Xavier, U of San Fransisco, Marquette, Fordham, St. Joes and lots of others. None of those schools are weak in the least.

    JEBNET site> http://www.jebnet.org/mba/whereis.htm

    Good luck.

    Scotty
