Please tell me about the University of Berkley in Michigan. Is it all it says it is and are their degrees recognized?

The University of Berkley has no recognized form of accreditation. The "school" is a Mailboxes, Etc. operation.

If you'll post what you're looking for, you'll likely receive many suggestions for much better options.

As Bill answered, "no" and "no." This "school" advertises heavily (or at least used to), but has no recognized accreditation. Whether or not they have an academic process is certainly open for debate.

Clearly, they are trading on the "almost-sounding-like" aspect of their name, allowing some of their customers to fool people into thinking they graduated from UC Berkeley.

Their statement regarding their lack of accreditation is incorrect, disingenuous, and moronic. If they operate legally in Michigan it is because of church and state limitations.

Beyond the possibility of someone seeing a Berkley diploma and saying, "Look, a degree!", I don't think it would be recognized.

Bear and Bear have written that the whole thing might be a joke, sort of a performance and a put on. Maybe. But I wonder if they're cashing the checks? And that advertising had to be paid for somehow.

Thank you for the information regarding University of Berkley. They must have fooled someone in the past since they have a pretty good "pitch". If I remember correctly, one of the statements relative to affiliation was related to a religious group. So possibly this is how they are being allowed to operate in Michigan. Thanks again for your responses and information.

Well actually their only presence in Michigan is a rented mailbox in a mailbox store in a shopping mall. They are run from Pennsylvania.

It is completely a phony operation. The agency that accredited the school is also phony.

Would that agency, by chance, be WAUC? [IMG]

  9. I wasn't aware that UofB claimed any accreditation; here's what they say about accreditation:

I believe that UofB missed a few more senses besides the just traditional sense. I guess they didn't want to say they weren't RA in any sense just in case someone lost their senses? [IMG]

They must have spent a fortune on those robes. Very impressive.

It's like going out and buying an expensive suit for a wedding only to find out on the day of the wedding that the bride and groom have gone "splitsville". The suit looks nice but no one will know you have it.

Nice robes. Obviously more expensive than the tuition for UoB. :D

Seems like I remember reading they had offices in a shed in a backyard.

They created their own acccrediting body and claim this accreditation on their main site.

(would be nice if they knew the differences between "its" and "it's.")

Perhaps their theme song should be The Great Pretender.

    Three worthless doctorates.

And the picture looks like a Kennedy Western graduation. Is that a fourth?

And what are the "Who's Who" listings about? I occasionally see those on a resume and ask, but nobody has ever given a good answer as to why a "Who's Who" listing is worth anything.
