Anynone know anything about ITP (Institute of Transpersonal Psycholgy) in California? I'm finishing my degree at COSC and looking to transfer there for my Masters.

My other choice for psych would be Fielding, but I like the curriculum at ITP much better.

Any comments good, bad or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You,

I've heard very good things about ITP. I have a friend who completed a masters in transpersonal psychology there several years ago, when they were in candidacy for regional accreditation (which they've since been granted), and she was very happy with the program.

Keep in mind that transpersonal psychology, while demand is growing substantially, is still considered "out there" by some people... but some of the most influential people in the field (Jung, Maslow, Kornfield) were major contributors and/or supporters to the literature in transpersonal studies.

I am thinking that Saybrook (also in San Francisco) has some sort of DL program, and it's another school that might be worth checking out. Originally established by Rollo May, Abraham Maslow, and several of the other major players in the humanistic psychology movement.

    Best of luck!

Of course, Saybrook used to be called the Humanistic Psychology Insitute during its pre-accredited days. They do offer short-residency master's and doctoral degrees in psychology, human science and organizational systems inquiry. Saybrook is accredited by WASC and has operated for more than 30 years.

The chancellor of Capella University came over from Saybrook when Capella (then TGSA) got started.

Chip and Rich, thanks for your insight.

Does anyone know if the classes offered through ITP will meet requirements for licensing outside of Cali?

I have the requirements from my state (Utah), but would be interested in someone who attended ITP or a similar school and is now licensed to counsel. (As an MFT or and LCSW)
