Has anyone taken classes at Fort Hayes State College? I spoke to them today and they seem very customer oriented. What are the classes like?
R, FHSU is fantastic, and they respond well to questions, in all departments, from book store to advisors...you name it! I'm going through the MLS program with a History concentration. I have enjoyed it thus far! My only complaint....wish it was an M.A. Best, Gavin Oh by the way, the tuition was the biggest draw!!FHSU cut my fees in half!
I'm a BGS student and I, too, am well pleased with their course-work and "customer service." Prompt answers to questions, reasonable tuition, instructors who seem to put as much effort into the Virtual College as the "sit down" classes. Great school. Ron
Ron, Good point, the instructor I had this past summer at FHSU put me through the paces, just as much, if not more severe than the instructor I had at a local B&M! Gavin
I, too, am a FHSU booster. Had I know of their MLS when I commenced my studies at CSUDH, I'd have had a bit of a quandary. In the end, I finished my M.A. in Humanities with CSU and am happy I did. I also agree with a number of other posters over the past few months that the MLS is a terrible degree name--more likely to interfere with using the degree than assisting. I note that a local CC is advertising for instructors for the Spring semester. The requirement is an M.A. in Humanities to teach humanities classes (not an MLS). My dealings with FHSU have been so positive I'd not hesitate a moment to enroll with them. I'm considering more graduate work just because of the reasonable tuition and to broaden my scope a bit. If the instructors are as easy to deal with as the office staff, it would be a great choice
The local CC here advertises for adjuncts and they are required to have a masters with 18 credits within the discipline they will teach.
If you have the approrpiate number of units in the concentration (and know the subject!) go ahead and apply regardless of what the degree is called.
