Anyone have information on the costs of the CTU DM program?

    Website is http://www.ctucoloradosprings.com

Expensive? etc. Seems like the Doctorate in Management would be a interesting program.

I agree this looks like an interesting program -- I just sent them an e-mail to see if it is available by distance learning.

    Ian,

I know that it is available for distance learning, but does have a few 4 day residences throughout the program. Site seems to not give any costs and I am wondering if it is a bartering option when approaching the admissions dept. I only have " this much" to spend. Can i get in? I don't know.

I am very much interested in the program, mainly due to being about 40 miles from Colorado Springs, so the short residence would be fine with me.

AIU and CTU, sister schools, are both extremely expensive. Be forewarned their admission counselor's are on a qouta system so are often pretty high pressure.

I was not aware of that. Thanks Dave.

I did assume that tuition would be rather expensive or as I stated above, similar in scale to a Car dealership's profit scale. I guess when you see a school who does not disclose tuition on their site, it must be either too expensive or really cheap. Both, I would imagine would be reasons not to disclose.

I spoke to them today. They require three residencies per year (3.5 days each) and the program is designed to be completed in 3 years. If you send in your application before December (I think) you can get a $15,000 scholarship and that would bring the cost down to only $50,000 from the original $65,000!

That is a bit too much for me.

You know it. I made the mistake of filling out an information request and within hours received the first of at least 50 calls over the next 3 months. I finally told the guy to "f-himself". I don't know if CTU is a good school or not, but the high pressure stuff just doesn't cut it.

As a side note, the "admissions counselor" is responsible not only for signing you up, but also if you drop out before graduating! I find the whole situation amusing if somewhat scary. They have a huge call center in the city I live in.

    Dave ,

I'm currently enrolled in CTU's MSM-ISS and the classes are okay. In the beginning they were pushy so i hung up on them a few time and looked elsewhere until I decided I liked their format, similar to AIU's portal. I inquires about the DM program also but Im in Japan and cant make 3.5 days a year back to the states. This is their first full year online and I will admit they are not as smooth as AIU's front office even if they are owned by the same folks. I have a 4.0 GPA so far after 5 classes, 5 to go.

    Dave,

It troubles me too. No matter how logical Rich’s argument on pros and cons of for-profit educational business might sound, I think that I agree with you and Andy Borchers on this issue. As a DL professor, I have experienced both systems (for-profit and not-for profit) hands-on. From an educator’s perspectives, I think that there is a glaring difference between the two organizational models in terms of educational experience that students go through.

Ouch!!! Me as well. It again, seems like a interesting program especially being distance learning and minimal residency requirements.

They told me it was 48% on-line and 52% residency (in addition to the short periodic residencies).

I liked that there no dissertation required (a professional doctorate would suite me fine) but the cost is way high.
