Found this story and thought I might share "NPR : College Challenges Oregon's 'Diploma Mill' Law" <http://www.npr.org/features/feature.php?wfId=3857911>
Thank you - very interesting. It's also fun to hear the voices of Bear and Contreras. I can see where K-W is coming from when they argue about violation of free speech and interference with interstate commerce. The aim is good, but the implementation is tricky. Maybe if federally mandated accreditation was in the US Constitution among the sundries along with the establishment of post offices.
I drove to the studio, paid $12 to part, and then spoke to the reporter for about 45 minutes . . . and exactly one sentence made it onto the air. That's show biz.
KW says, "We're pretty damn mad..." about being labeled a diploma mill. I wonder how mad some of their customers are after finding out they didn't really get what they thought they bought.
Quite true. Both John and I were interviewed about an alternative high school. I spoke to the reporter twice for a total of over an hour. He used one sentence. It was, of course, a very nice sentence. Tom Nixon
