OK, I am wondering if there is a totally DL MA program for English that is in the US? I know about the one from Utah State. Are there any others?

Along with those, are there any in the UK? I need taught courses, not research.

    thanks,

It's been some time since I looked at them, but I seem to remember that both Goddard College and Union Inst. & U.'s Vermont College have fiction-oriented short-residency MFA programs in creative writing. I've also heard that Goucher College has an MFA emphasizing "creative nonfiction" (travel writing etc.)

I've got a list that includes Eastern New Mexico U and U of Northern Iowa. There seems to be some also on offer in the UK where U of Kent, U od Teeside, and the U of Wales (both Lampeter and Aberystwyth) are listed. If you're willing to look at Australian programs there is U of Melbourne and U of New England.
    Good luck,
    Jack

Not a M.A., but Fort Hays State University offers the Master of Liberal Studies with a concentration in English, totally online.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your help. I have contacted several of these universities to see if we can get something worked out with them.

I am also talking with Sheffield Hallam about their MA in History. Though my BA is English, I can go either way...

BTW, the U of Wales at Aberystwyth does not offer their MA in English in a DL format. Some of the things can be done DL, but there is quite a bit of face to face time, as well.

I go to school at FHSU, and I love it, but I'll be going elsewhere for grad school. Why?

The MLS strikes me as the "GED" of graduate degrees, kinda like the BGS does for undergrad. It seems, too, that it would be confused with a library science degree.

I plan to get an MA in Humanities from CSUDH. If FHSU offered an MA, I'd go there in a heartbeat.

    Just my $0.02

update on some of these programs.

THe ENMU is done via ITV format, so it is good if you live in New Mexico, but not near the university.

U of Northern Iowa does not offer their MA in English via DL.

I also checked out U of Central Queensland (Australia) and they do have a completely DL MLitt. It costs $11,520 Australian for the entire course.

I am still waiting to hear from some of the others.

Found a new one. East Carolina Unversity has an MA in English with a concentration in Technical and Professional Communication that is delivered DL.

    If you speak from experience....

Anyone who actually already has a Master's in English (or a Master's in anything and eighteen graduate credit-hours in English): my employer is currently hiring online English instructors.

Here's the thread with the details.

    And even more...

I am putting these all here so if someone else comes along later and is wondering they can find this thread by a search.

    Manchester Metropolitan University

That one is actually a Creative Writing degree.

    University of Nottingham

For TESOL as well as a MSc in English Language Training Mgt see:
    University of Surrey

OK, this one isn't really English but it looked cool anyway. MA in Irish Culture. It costs about 3600 GBP for an American.

    University of Ulster

OK, thats probably about it. I am sure there are others out there, but I am tired of looking for now.

According to their website, U. of Wales Lampeter's history department is in the process of creating a dl program for all their master's degrees in history. http://www.lamp.ac/history/dl.htm
