Masters (?) of Education at Jones

A full page ad has been running in the last few issues of the Chronicle of Higher Education (that ain't cheap) for the "Masters of Education" program at Jones International University (www.getmyMEd.com).

I am not aware of anyone else who adds the "s" to this degree title. The M.Ed. has, I think, been Master of Education. Has Jones created their own possibly proprietary degree title?

The other odd (to me) think about their ad is their accreditation statement:

"Accredited by The Higher Education Commission, a member of the North Central Association, the United States accrediting body for institutions of higher education."

"The Higher Education Commission" is a member of NCA? NCA is the United States accrediting body?

Finally, on this national day of picking nits, the Jones seal (perhaps the ugliest I've ever seen) says, in a circle, Jones International University - University of the Web (TM). Could there be a new name coming for this already-been-through-three-names university?

    John,
This is the same way that Capella identifies their accreditation status. When I questioned them on this they indicated to me that this was the "new" way that NCA chose to be identified? You can view the same at their web site: http://www.capellauniversity. edu
