Hello I am new to the forum but I have been reading it for some time now. I am looking into SA schools and have sent some emails with my research outline to faculty. Yesterday I found the psychology program at U. Cape Town and sent an email (waiting for a reply) but then saw the tuition information. It is quite expensive when compared to other SA institutions. Anyone in the forum studying at UCT that can give some insight? Thanks for the info. Hector Morey
I'm sorry Hector but it would be more helpful if you could post the numbers yourself. I don't keep up with this level of detail and don't have the time to research tuition rates for every ZA university. Regardless of this, I'd say that if you feel that you can get a better deal somewhere else then you should go for it. Cape Town is a good school. Do they now offer a DL program in Psychology? That would be new, I think. Who in South Africa has a better reputation as well as a cheaper tuition rate? Who has the better deal? When you say, "psychology program" do you mean undergrad? grad school? doctoral? Try to be a bit more specific. Jack
More information. It is a doctoral degree by research thesis. I am seriously considering UCT, they have a good psychology department and my research interests can be match with some of the faculty research. I just found curious that there would be such a difference in tuition charges from say U. Pretoria, UNISA, or Natal. I could only get the 2003 fees and it states that international students (Not from SA) will be charged in US dollars. Not cheap cheap, but still quite inexpensive for a quite good university. And compared to other parts of the world, a very good deal. Tom Nixon
