I received my free copy of The Bear's guide to Distance Learning.
My wife and I have been looking it over and are discovering information on schools we didn't know anything about that will really help us with our educational plans...
Thank you so much Dr Bear for your autographed book!

    You're most welcome.

I've now received a stamp and label from 8 of the 12 people who were to get one. Two (DesElms, Blahetka) I might hand over in person. So there are two yet to be heard from.

I got into an argument with a clerk at the post office who wouldn`t sell me a $3.85 stamp "to take out of the building" so I`ll send lots of little $.37 stamps.

I did write an email to the USPS which was answered promising to look into it, but thats another story.

If I ever get a response and its a slow day on the board, I`ll post it for laughs; I think Federal bureaucracy`s attempts to match private industrys` decent customer service practices funny at best.

Since we're thanking John Bear in this thread. I would like to thank you on behave of my wife who just graduated with an Associate's degree in culinary arts with some help from your book. It earned me a few brownie points and a few pounds, so thanks from me as well. :)

John: I'll see that and raise you this. When I went to the post office to get a dozen Priority Mail envelopes, I saw they have two kinds: "Flat Rate" (anything you can fit in goes at the 2-pound rate), and "Non Flat Rate."

    The flat rate is $3.85.

The minimum postage for the non-flat-rate is $3.85, even it weighs half an ounce.

Think about this a moment. Why does the "non flat rate" envelope even exist? I asked. Clerk: "Because there are people who need to use them."

I could see the Jack Nicholson sandwich dialogue impending, so I just left. I filled out one of their little forms, asking, and we'll probably both get answers when they are iceskating in the nether regions.
