I was reading John Bear's profile last night including his website. I was very surprised that he advocates DL learning coming from such a pretigious University as UCB. (IMHO, the best of the UC's). John: I would be interested in reading some of your published material (books, etc). What bookstore sell it?
I assume UCB is University of California at Berkeley; UCB was one of the earliest RA schools to offer DL. For their current offerings check out http://www.unex.berkeley.edu/
I was aware of this - although when I refer to DL, I am usually referring to on-line education. The DL classes for UCB are offered at satellite sites throughout the Bay Area. (they have a facility in the south bay). Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think UCB offers full degrees with their DL program - just certificates.
Berkeley does offers DL credit classes via the internet. I am not aware of any DL degrees offered by the UC system.

Bear with me. I don't believe that I have ever been in a bookstore that didn't have one of JB's books. Really. Dan B
Mr. Engineer emailed me privately and I replied privately. He/she can make it public if she/he wishes.
I am not aware of any DL degrees offered by the UC system. UC Irvine offers a Master of Advanced Study in Criminology, Law and Society via the Internet http://unex.uci.edu/distance/mas-cls/index.asp Here is some info from that page: "The master of advanced study (M.A.S.) in Criminology, Law and Society, the first fully online program in the University of California system, prepares professionals for leadership positions within the criminal justice, social service and legal communities. The curriculum emphasizes theoretical and practical applications that serve as an excellent pathway to career advancement. It also provides a solid foundation from which to pursue advanced study in this field."
UC Berkeley offers a few online versions of regular undergrad classes to on-campus undergraduate students. Otherwise, the DL offerings at UCB are all through the extension school, and Berkeley makes sure there is a very large distinction between the extension school and the regular institution. Moreover, no degrees are offered via DL, only certificates, professional sequences, and the like. UCB is actually very far behind the curve as far as DL is concerned. As far as I can tell, that's the way they want it.
