Union Institute, the school from which many reading this have received PhD's in a variety of fields now claims that they have never enrolled or represented themselves as offering any PHD other than a PHD in Interdisciplinary Studies

According to their new line-- no learner (student) has been awarded a degree such as a PhD in Religious Studies, A PhD in Psychology or any other field from Union Institute --- EVER

This has got to be one of the more bizzare lies I have ever heard an institute insist upon.

Apparently the Ohio Board of Regent's claim that Union was never authorized to give any degree other than the PHD in Interdisciplinary Studies.

And it seems that Union has represented itself to other agencies such as the USED as offering only this single degree

Perhaps some of the 6,000 with PhD's in other fields might want to address this?

    Ugh Vey!

Please provide a source for this assertion by Union.

Graduates from times before have asserted that Union did award degrees in specific fields. Graduates from my era earned degrees with concentrations in specific areas. If you provide a source for Union's assertion otherwise, it would be helpful.

Actually only two posters here--Steve Levicoff and I--have earned Ph.D. degrees from Union. None, IIRC, are currently enrolled.

Inaccuracies like this make it even more imperative that we rely upon the originial source, not your interpretation of it. So, please provide it.

    Thanks!

    HMMM!

First post and such and assertion...hmm, sounds like BS to me.
Haven't been around for a while. Is this sort of thing happening these days? The "lurking doubtthrower". Shame. And pretty silly.

A review of the Union Institute & University site shows this to be false, as the link to alumni specifically refernces docotral degrees in Psychology, Education, and other fields.

The statements to the contrary by are false as can be verified by rlevant can be proven false by looking here: http://www.tui.edu/vision/unionsdistinguished/alumni/default.asp?strLink=Bb.1.1.3.7&strLink=Bb.1.2.1.7&strLink=Bb.3.1.7

    MODERATOR NOTE

I pulled this thread because I believed that it contained patently false information, and I suspected that the author had ulterior motives in starting the thread.

I have both e-mailed and PM'd the author, requesting documentation of the claims, or at least an explanation, and have not received anything in return.

So, at the request of several (including one who I believe was a target of the original post), I am restoring the thread to keep it viewable, but I am also locking it.
