After jumping through hoops, I received my letter from the Direct Student Loan people that my student loan has been approved.

Now what? Do they cut me a check or do they give the money to the school?

So much red tape, so little time. I am glad that I haven't had to do this in the past.

Usually the money goes directly to the school - anything beyond tuition is then sent to you from the school if you have attended at least one seminar (they do them online now) about the importance of repayment and the rules surrounding repayment (grace period, deferment options etc.)

    What About??

What about if the school is a British or an Aussie based DL School. Does the same apply?
