    Hello,

Besides CLEP, DANTES, ECE and TECEP what other posibilities there are to earn credit through taking the exam only? Somebody know whether there are Colleges/Universities that will allow you to skip their undergraduate courses and take the final exam to earn credit?

    Thanks,

    Dennis

    Dennis,

I know that there are several colleges that allow students to "test-out" of certain classes by passing exams or oral boards conducted at the departmental level. For example, I had a friend at Stockton State College (in NJ) who was awarded 3 credits for American Government by passing an oral board conducted by professors in the Social Sciences Department.

Of course, each college is going to have its own policy about this. So, you have to look at each college you're interested in and see if it is possible to be awarded academic credit via departmental exams.

    Hope this helps

Yes, there are at least a few universities/colleges that will allow you to just write the exam and earn credit.

Athabasca University in Canada (www.athabascau.ca)allows "challenge for credit" in many of its courses and its challenge fees are reasonable. You may need to get permission from the instructor, but in the one instance when I looked into this option (didn't need to challenge the course), it wasn't a big deal.

As well, Ohio University also has its option, but the course selection is more limited than Athabasca University.

    Hope this is helpful,

    Michael

In addition to the tests you listed it looks like there are colleges accept the following tests for credit:

GRE, AP, FEMA, and some Computer Certification Tests
