    Hey,

For example, I have earned a A.A. in Business Administration from AIU Online (way too expensive.... too bad I hadn't already become aware of this website and other options). Recently, though, I found out that AIU was on warning from SACS. What might happen to the AIU degree if they were, for example, to lose the regional accredidation? Would my degree become non-recognized by potential employers? Would it never really even matter to me since I have transferred all of those credits to Excelsior (they were all accepted) and will soon be graduating with a B.S. from them? While some don't always understand where I'm coming from (some say only to list the highest degree obtained), I am proud of the fact that I earned an Associate's Degree (even though the B.S. will somewhat overshadow that)... and I'm always anxious to list it on applications / resumes, and I'm sure I'll still feel the same even after earning the B.S. Or, is there a possibility that since the degree was RA when it was earned that it would still be viewed as that (even if they did lose RA)?

  2. I believe that if the school is accredited when the degree is granted then the degree is then and forever from an accredited school - regardless of the school's current accreditation.

Think of it another way - if the school closed down, would all degree holders now have a useless degree? No, it's just from a school that closed.

I will say, however, that people will probably look at a degree from a once-accredited-now-not school with suspicion, but again, it will still be accredited.

This is all premature though - I'm sure others can comment more about AIU's specific situation.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Nothing. A degree earned while a school was accredited is a degree from an accredited school.

This topic has been covered many times on this board. A search will reveal a great deal of commentary on the nuances of it all.
