  1. Hey folks-

I need a little advice on which option would be best. I have 60 credit hours toward a Sports Management....I have a lot of Wellness/Health related credits...I am looking at either Excelsior and the Liberal Arts degree...(with getting a psychology as a second degree) or a Health Sciences degree at COSC....

My two main concerns are the number of credits that would transfer..and the cost it would take to complete both of these programs....any help would be greatly apperciated..

    Thanks

    Have you tried...

Have you tried the US Sports Academy? They are rather expensive but they now have some great undergraduate bachelor's programs. Seems like that would be your best option.
I have a Lib Arts, psych BA from Charter Oak and it was a great experience all around. Call Kerry Ann Kowar and she will get you an evaluation going.

    Excelsior & Charter Oak

I like that Excelsior has RA and a good reputation among service members. I"ve heard good things about Charter Oak too, but ma unsure of RA (I believe they are). I am not familiar with COSC.

Excelsior has some advantages over COSC. First, Excelsior offers majors, while COSC only offers a major in General Studies with concentrations. Second, COSC requires the extra step of preparing a degree plan essay that Excelsior does not. However, COSC does offer Title IV financial aid, while Excelsior does not. It's really a matter of reading both schools' catalogs and deciding which one suits your needs best. Both are good schools.

I went back and forth between COSC and EC for months. I finally settled on EC for a few reasons. The first is cost. EC allows you to pay your fees in 6 monthly payments. And, because I am not in Connecticut, (COSC's location) I don't get slammed as hard on the fees. Secondly, EC graduates students once every month. COSC does it every 3 (I think). COSC's concentration proposal was a turn off. To me, it's just a waste of time...more administrative red tape.

Ultimately, it depends on what's important to you and your situation. As I recall, COSC has a pretty restrictive set of general education requirements.

    COSC

I went with COSC because they provided very detailed information on what would transfer, had the best customer service, took more credits and, at least in my case, the cost was about the same. My experience so far as been very positive.

Since I plan on pursuing a master's degree and had already discussed the plan with Fort Hayes State College whether it was a concentration or a named degree wasn't an issue for me.
