As many of you already know, I have been searching endlessly for a distance degree post doctorate degree in law or an area closely related to law. I have searched both in and out of the United States, that is to say England, Australia, South Africa. Most requires an LL.B (which I don't have). I think The University of South Africa is perhaps the only one that does not ask for an LL.B, but when I check out their curriculum not only will I be in school until the dinosaurs return but the subject matters will not benefit me here in the United States.

I have thus, began my search to find a post doctorate degree in Criminology. Again, I would welcome a US distance eduation program or a foreign (Aussie, British etc.) My only requirement is that the degree be state or regionally accredired.

One more thing, I do prefer research degrees but will accept any at this point. I have to act quickly since I will be done with my Masters in nine more months.

If you have any ideas, please send them my way.

    Kind Regards,

The University of South Africa offers a D.Litt. et. Phil. (Doctor of Literature & Philosophy) in Criminology, which is a pure research degree. It's also under the College of Justice, not the School of Law, so no LL.B. or LL.M. is needed, but an acceptable Master's degree is required.

There may also be some options for a research doctorate at some Australian & British schools, but these seem to be on a case-by-case basis.

I don't know of any legitimately accredited US schools that offer a Criminology doctorate by DL.

I'm going to give the usual UK reply to anything legal or criminological. University of Leicester. http://www.le.ac.uk/criminology/phd.html

Just don't try contacting them for at least another fortnight, though, as it's the peak period for undergraduate admissions at the moment.
