Got just my diploma from TUI

Got just my diploma from TUI and it says-
Touro University International
Cypress, California, USA
(Branch Campus of Touro College, New York)

I find that strange. Do all TUI grads have the same printed?

Does it look odd like the words are placed strategically, or does it look decieving?

For argument sake, why don't you scan a copy and upload it as an attachment so we can see what you mean. Obviously you may want to black out your name on the CPU.

 

In virtually all cases, colleges are normally branch campuses of a university, but in this case, universities are branch campuses of a college.

 

Since TUI derives its accreditation soley through Touro College, it makes sense to me.

 

TUI is a branch campus of TC. It is clear on their web site. They had the "branch campus" on their degrees since day one. It is even mentioned on TC's web site.

I'm just curious of the wording/layout. Is there a place to view a TUI diploma? Some diploma mills use odd writings that make them seem illegit. I would hate to think TUI would look the same.

Now seeing this, I do think it is strange, and here is my rationale. I received my MBA from the iMBA program within the TU system. My degree does not mention the program, but the school. This is not a direct parrellel, but it was one added benefit.

Since TUI is a virtual campus, having TUI and not Touro on the degree tells the evaluator that it is a DL degree, making a contraversy to some (yes, some very ignorant people).

I think when students apply and earn their degree from Touro, they expect a degree from Touro, not TUI. As TUI is a branch campus (and there is tigma with DL), it would be much more value added to have their students have a degree from Touro.

Were any statements made up front on this issue. TU addresssed this up front, and said the degrees issued were IDENTICAL to their degrees in the B&M program.

I wonder what the transcript looks like. Does it mention DL?

It is still a huge accomplishement, and congrats!!!!!!!!

 

I think TUI is not deceiving anyone here. You get what you paid for, a DL degree from a branch campus of a college in New York. Can people tell that this is DL? Yes, but very few would actually bother to do this. If the intention of the holder is to work in industry, the origin of degree is irrelevant as long as is RA. If the intention is to work in academia, it is very clear that the holder will find the same problems as with any DL degree from a virtual school.

 

I don't know what to feel about that...

On one hand, it is being truthfull and the diploma looks very nice, but I'm not so sure I would like Parenthasese on my Master's Degree Diploma. Why can't they just leave that out?

For example, I got my MPA from OU... in DC. They have a branch campus here and send professors from OU to teach in 1 week formats for 2 credit courses. the program is the advanced program in the college of continuing education. My diploma simply says "University of Oklahoma," but I never went to the actual campus. I would have been quite upset if they had put parenthasese on it to say something like: The University of Oklahoma (Washington DC branch Campus) on it.

Eh, it's no biggie. It's sort of like graduating from Nova Southwestern e.g. they are located in Florida, but you might be at a campus in a different state.

Isn't it actually the opposite of your example. If your example was a parallel, then the branch campus of Nova would indicate it was a branch campus. But the Nova diploma doesn't and his Touro diploma does. So is it really sort of like Nova?

 

Oops, my mistake: I meant southeastern and not southwestern.

And the only interesting issue is that a university is a branch campus of a college. But it's still no biggie.
