The accreditor is *not* an accreditor recognized as legitimate by USDE/CHEA.

Been around for 30 years, but no information on them any where else.

Only means of contact is a Yahoo e-mail address.

    No physical location.

No list of programs or courses.

URL and abbreviation is very similar to another well school: http://www.tiu.edu/
    or to: http://www.tui.edu/

If it looks like it, feeels like it, and smells like it, I sure wouldn't want to step in it.

I got a chuckle that their website claims a copyright 1973-2004. TCP/IP didn't even exist in 1973, let alone the worldwide web!

While not a complete indicator of illegitamacy, the high end domain .com usually sets off a siren in my head when associated with a school. The same is generally true of a school ending with .org. A couple years ago there were several new schools posting sites with .org. When called on it, several 'owners' gave some really silly answers (which I will not repeat here).

Also, the first thing that went through my head when I went to the website was, "Hmmm- smoke and mirrors....". I like a nice website as anyother, but too much emphasis on prettification sets off sirens in my head as well.

ACI accreditation? Hmmm, I worked for a company called ACI, however it was a TLA for Automatic Car Identification. The equipment read the striped labels on the side of box cars. Somehow, I doubt a relation.

I've been writing about them for nearly 30 years -- quite a long write-up in some earlier editions. Went by the umcampus one day in the late 70's. The man sitting on the porch of the modest house was Dr. Johnson himself. He was quite polite, until I started asking a few questions. At one point, they claimed more than 100 'foreign' campuses which I believe were the homes or offices of alumni.

You know what drives me nuts? This school is an obvious diploma mill, yet it has a well sophisticated website. Yet compared to my current instiution, Northcentral University, which is totally RA by NCACS, it looks like the diploma mill! Will someone from NCU please contact TIU and ask to hire their web developer!

    Compare for yourself:

    www.tiu.edu or www.ncu.edu

I do wonder how many unwonderful academic institutions are run by UN-successful (failed) academics who are in the business for pay-backs or just plain money ?

Interestingly, NCU's web site has improved quite a bit! The original site was much worse.

I much prefer the NCU site. It is packed with real information. It shows the address and all the contact information you could possibly desire. It has a search option because real people are using it to get real things done. There's no obnoxious music. Most importantly, they copyrighted correctly, unlike the TIU site which lists a copyright of 1973-2004 which legally would mean that the website was first created in 1973 which we know must be a lie because HTML didn't even exist back then. :D

The comparison should be between www.tiu.com (not .edu) and www.ncu.edu.

I also prefer the NCU site. The Flash on the TIU site is glitzy but gets in the way.

You're right about the .edu. Sorry.

I am overemphasizing when I say that TIU has the better website. All I'm saying is that the NCU website looks to be of poor quality and could be redone, possibly similiar to that of AIU's. According to a survey done by students, the image of NCU was our biggest concern, and we all said that the website and seal of the university needs to be redone - most thought that the swoosh on the seal looked too corporate and wanted something more academic looking like Capella's.

Both website are pretty sad. TIU's website looks like they ripped it off from a televangelist that went off the air. And, NCU's...OMG it's so "amature-ish"...looks like one of those out-of-the-box infomercial websites. A la "You too can make money on the internet". :D
