    Hi everyone. I was reading the Business section of the Wall Street Journal the other day when I came across a very informative piece of information, that I would like to pass on to the D/L Forum community. It seems that Abe Lincoln Law school has both on line and in person classes which are located in L.A.
    and you have the option of doing both.

    This is a school for profit ,but the Management has plans for expanded growth,and wants to make it a very user friendly school. And right now they actually have some video lectures on line at their web site that you can take, before enrolling.

    I started Torts, took lecture 1, it lasted about 2 plus hours. Essay writing is also offered as a video lecture. I don"t know what their success rate on the Baby Bar is but It may be worth a trip to their Website to see what they have to offer.

    If their courses are more user friendly, it may encourage more of us to complete the program and pass the bar. Tks Traderneil

    Not good. The Baby Bar pass rate for October 2003 was 20.7% for all takers and 21.1% for first-time takers.

    If someone wanted to choose a school based solely on Baby Bar pass rate, better choices would be:

    1. Concord

    Don't forget about Oak Brook College which consistently offers the highest pass of the Baby Bar, and better on the Bar than all but 2 ABA law schools in California. It is also extremely affordable.

    5. Taft 50%

    And ALU is one of the pricier DL law schools; almost 3x as expensive as NWCU.

    Northwestern California is very misleading when it comes to tuition. It's like agreeing on the order price for a new car and the dealer saying, "Oh, did you want it painted?"

    Can you expand on that a bit? I know your first year you have to buy a set of tapes for $395, then books, then all the assorted fees associated with registering with the state/the FSLYX...what else is NWCU charging? Very interested, as I'm planning on enrolling with them soon.

    2 students from NWCU on the yahoo board said from what they saw of ALU lectures (available online apprantly for viewing) said they were superior to NWCU.. ALU is 6k, 5k if you get a scholarship + 500 books. It includes free baby bar review class and you can go in person any time u want

    NWCU is 2k + 500 books + ??? Someone said you need to spend another 500-1000 on stuff. Also I notice the transcript cost they charge are outrageous!

    Please expand...

    Ten bucks for a transcript? Hardly outrageous.

    $10 does seem like alot in comparison to their tuition, other schools, and reg instutitions. I am curious as to what the other posted said about other fees more as $10 wont kill me, but other fees might

    Abraham Lincoln never attended law school; interesting choice of name.

    That might be the point...

    On another note, I got an email from NWCU in response to a query I sent them, and they guarantee their tuition rates for the term of your enrollment.

    Not only did Abraham Lincoln not attend law school, he never completed a high school diploma and never studied as a law clerk. Nevertheless, as a lawyer, he did mostly civil appeals, theoretically the most legally demanding specialty. He was a very fine lawyer. Take some time to read some of his legal, as opposed to political, writing.

    However, darn few of us could reach Lincoln's level or legal skill and understanding without education and guidance.

    I have a copy of newspaper engraved portrait of Lincoln around the time of the Cooper Union speech (1860?) in my office where I can look at it for inspiration.

    I've never read Lincoln's legal writing, but I've read he was a brilliant attorney, deceptively clever, lulled a lot of powerhouse attorneys into a trap in court, then sprang it with the most charming of countrified "innocence".

    I hope they keep their word and in writing, and making an analogy with my own experience, I remember when I enrolled at NCU (I Know you say NWCU) verbally they offer me the same thing, but when ask to put in it writing they withdraw their offer. Hence, I withdrew my studies with them.

    In addition, their tuition has going up as rocket. Now they are as expensive as the better alternatives(According to their website, if you are current student your only will have a 5% increase every time they raise tuition, and that seems to be happening quite often since they got accredited).

    NWCU != NCU

    I think (I'm fairly certain, actually) we're talking about two different schools.

    NWCU = Northwestern California University, a California bar-registered law school

    NCU = North Central University?

    In any event, I do agree with you about getting things documented. I have an email from them stating they won't increase their tuition (currently $1950/yr) and hopefully I'll be able to get the same in writing before I start sending them checks.

    Of course, we are talking about two different Universities; I am just sharing an experience. I was referring to Northcentral University by the way!
