I just have a few questions about admission into the University of London external law program. From what I understand after reading the information booklet sent to me by the school, is that when applying to the program you have to send your original diplomas and not transcripts from all the school you graduated from. Is this correct? Would it be acceptable if the student had official transcripts not diplomas sent directly from all the schools they attended in the past? What if a student completed some grad work at a college, but never completed all the work and therefor did not receive a degree?

All official documents sent to them are returned by registered mail.
    Don´t know about forwarding transcripts.

    Hello fellow UoLie!

I checked with them, and they said that it would be also OK to have a copy approved by the British Council where you live.

I didn't check with them about transcripts or partial degrees, but they answered promptly, so I suggest you'll do the same.

London required me to send my ORIGINAL B.A. and J.D. diplomas to the British Council for certified copies. I also gave them my law license.

Then, London wrote me asking for official transcripts sent direct from my law school. Only after all that was my application complete. They made the offer of registration in a few weeks.

For the LLB programme they were willing to go with official undergraduate transcripts sent directly from the undergraduate university.

When I applied, I had my undergraduate transcripts sent to me, and I just forwarded the unopened envelopes to UOL along with my application. I was accepted about 3 weeks later.

Submitting notarized copies of diplomas instead of transcripts is common at university in many European countries. Transcripts may be requested later as proof of courses taken. Typically the diplomas must be notarized (and translated) by an official in the host country.

Depending on the country there may be variance in rules. The Germans, for example, are very bureaucratic, thorough, and expensive, and refuse foriegn credentials unless approved by a German state ministry of education. Use of titles or diplomas without ministry approval may result in a financial fine.

Thanks for the input everyone. Got an email today from UofL telling me that having official transcripts sent directly to them form other schools I attended would be fine.
