Hello, anybody has experience with Revans University? the "action learning" they use for learning seems interesting and would like to know if anybody here had a 1st hand experience or knowledge about how effective is it.. the idea seems really interesting, i hope you can help me
I have worked with IMCA occasionally over the past few years. They are UK based but also "sponsor" a US operation - which is Revans University. Essentially work based programmes for practising managers. They mostly work with consultants in large corporate clients. They are pushing a Corporate University offering in the US. Sodexho are a US client of theirs currently. http://www.imcassociation.edu/imcassociation/ http://www.imcasocrates.org/imcass/VUs/isl/frame.htm
Hello.. could you tell me more about the teaching method they use and their academic quality? thank you very much
The action learning method brings groups of practicing managers together in "learning sets" to work on problems. Ideally these should be current workplace issues that the student can have an influence upon. The tutor will facilitate a set discussion so in effect all the set members help each other determine appropriate solutions to a problem. The tutor is also there to help students draw upon the appropriate literature. Outputs are individual however - not collective. Quality wise - I worked as a tutor on a UK based programme, that was well run. Programmes are delivered by a partner network, so quality tends to depend on the ability of the partner.
So they dont have any textbooks at all? what happens if their knowledge in certaina areas is not enough?
