That's worth a bucket of warm spit, I'll assume you mean!

The best/cheapest is likely South African Theological Seminary's MA, newly accredited in SA, sensitively run, well-taught. Check the SATS website for details. It is an oldie but goodie, and the US/SA exchange rate makes it very affordable for US students.

Check out Johnson Bible College at www.jbc.edu/mastersnt They offer a distance learning Master of Arts in New Testament that is the least expensive regionally accredited program I've seen.

Not an easy program and if you are going to work that hard, you probably want an accredited program.

I did a count on the books required for the 20 credit option in church history - close 58, depending on which courses are taken.

Many MA Theo programs in the US are coursework oriented. Many on the Commonwealth side (like South Africa) are research oriented. The MTh programme, for example at SATS gives you the choice of either the Structured (two mini-thesis)MTh or the regular 160 page thesis and no coursework.
One thing I like with SATS is their efficiency since they are newly accredited (2002) and first private school to be able to grant MTh there. Before they grant the degree via Unizul.
I'm not advertising, just sharing the positive experience of doing my MTh thesis with them.

Based upon what I know of South African universities and their costs it's almost impossible for me to believe that any US program would be less expensive than the ZA program referenced by our Carpathian Uncle. You could shop around within the South African university system (for example, you could look at UNISA) but I don't believe that there will be a substantial difference in cost.

Actually, one can also choose to do three mini-theses of 40 typed pages per thesis.
