I'm currently enrolled at COSC and I'm looking at taking a couple of foreign language CLEPS and don't really understand how much credit they yield. As I understand it, scoring "50" on the French exam yields 6 hours of "basic" credit, but scoring "52" yields 6 hours of "intermediate" credit. My question; is this cumulative? If I score "52" do I get the 6 hours of "basic" credit AND the 6 hours of "intermediate" credit?

Yes, if you get 62, you get twelve credit-hours, six each of basic and intermediate, all liberal arts. If you're fluent in one of those three languages, CLEP is your very good friend.

You also might want to search for DegreeInfo threads on BYU's language examinations. They have a wide selection of languages and IIRC they can be worth up to sixteen credit-hours!

It makes me wish I had more than rusty Spanish and a smattering of Antillean Creole....

    It's called FLATS

The BYU language exam system I mentioned is called "Foreign Language Achievement Testing Service" or "FLATS".
