I'm currently enrolled at COSC and I'm looking at taking a couple of foreign language CLEPS and don't really understand how much credit they yield. As I understand it, scoring "50" on the French exam yields 6 hours of "basic" credit, but scoring "52" yields 6 hours of "intermediate" credit. My question; is this cumulative? If I score "52" do I get the 6 hours of "basic" credit AND the 6 hours of "intermediate" credit?
Yes, if you get 62, you get twelve credit-hours, six each of basic and intermediate, all liberal arts. If you're fluent in one of those three languages, CLEP is your very good friend. You also might want to search for DegreeInfo threads on BYU's language examinations. They have a wide selection of languages and IIRC they can be worth up to sixteen credit-hours! It makes me wish I had more than rusty Spanish and a smattering of Antillean Creole.... -=Steve=-
Don't forget the NYU exam Also take a look at the NYU Foriegn language exam which has a 12 or 16 point test. If you are fluent in a language this is a good exam to take. There is also the ACTFL Oral exam worth up to 12 credits. Here's a link to give you some info on the exams: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12508&highlight=NYU
It's called FLATS The BYU language exam system I mentioned is called "Foreign Language Achievement Testing Service" or "FLATS". -=Steve=-
