    Hello,

I will start my distance learning MBA with Warwick after 5 months from now.
however, I will have free time during this 5 months period, so I wonder if you suggest any preparation (reading, materials, etc) for the MBA, which will help me later?

    Best Regards,

    Vedeno.

I would use this time to get your math skills in order - an MBA can be very math-intensive, especially in classes like finance and accounting. I don't know if Warwick's program requires you to take the GMAT, but preparing for the concepts tested in the GMAT will help. I'm going to plug my own school again, and point out the the University of Wyoming offers an online class called BADM 5100 - Foundations of Quantitative Analysis which is for MBA students with a light math background. You could probably register for it as an undergrad and save some $$$ (I was able to do so with a few MBA classes), but you'd need to call the school to make sure. You can find more info at http://online.uwyo.edu. Good luck with your MBA!

hmm... I think that depends a number of factors:

    1) What do you take in the comming academic year?
    2) What do you want to achieve during the programme?

if you don't know what you want to achieve in the programme, this would be a good time for you to do so.

I think you can contact the school if they can pass you any local contact and if you can talk to any of the students studying in your local community. That would be very good network opportunities and provide you good information on the comming study.

and one more important thing..... have a relax

Wish you good luck in the comming study

Thank you for your valuable advices.

By the way, Warwick DL MBA invites applicants with 7+ years of experience to send their applications without GMAT, then it may ask some of them to do GMAT.

Thank you for your valuable feedback.
I will study in the first year the following:
    Organisational Behaviour
    Operations Management
    Market Analysis
    Financial Accounting
    Modelling & Analysis for Management.

    I want to:
1- Leave technical and switch to business.
    2- Learn the management methodologies.
3- Gain the business oriented personality.
3- focus on marketing as the minor specialty.

These are good ideas. I wish to find someone.

Thank you again and I wish you good luck in your current study.

By the way, congratulations on your choice of one of the best DL MBAs in the world. Warwick ranks up there with powerhouse DL MBAs like Duke, Purdue, UoL Imperial and Indiana. Work hard and enjoy!

I suppose you might like to have some preparation study before the start of the academic year.

Financial Accounting and some college level alegbra/calculus would be pretty good at the moment. Topics like accounting and modelling usually are pretty much standardised. While the teaching of OB, operations, and marketing can vary from teachers to teachers. You might want some 'light' readings on these as an introduction and see if you feel comfortable with these management topics.

Not sure if it is true or not and I only *heard* from my friends telling me that the Warwick DL MBA is pretty tough. Some dropped out due to difficulty and only a few can finish it in 3.5 years. Start some preparation study would be a way to relieve the toughness of the programme.

Do keep us posted about it. I believe folks here would be interested to know it .

    Again, good luck

When I started seeking for a school, first I omitted American and Canadian schools because they are so far from the middle east, where I am from. It's far to travel all this way to attend residential summer weeks, also timing difference is too big, the average 9 hours which is not appropriate for DL.
So I searched among British schools. I was looking for a high rated school. Finally I chose Warwick as a high reputed school with expertise in distance learning. I prepared a very good application. And thank God, they accepted me.

Thank you and I wish you a successful MBA.

I shared your experience when I was telling my friends that I am taking an MBA in DL. I was always asked why I take a 3 year DL MBA while there are many PT programme can be completed in 2 years. And most of them believe DL MBA is *easier* than the FT and PT counterparts. One can never tell until one really takes part in such study. And from my current experience DL MBA won't be easier than PT or FT MBA.....dare I say that even though I haven't been studying any of the PT or FT MBA.......
