Excellent extended treatment of degree mills on techtv tonight, featuring everyone's favorite degree mills, including Columbia State and Monticello. Extended interview with John Bear. Want to know what Les Snell actually looks like? Listen to dark vivacious twenty-something Monticello Ph.D. student recount a harrowing tale of Snellish deception (yeah, right).

Program will air again tomorrow morning from 8:00 to 8:30 PST - channel 254 locally but I don't know if that translates nationally. Definitely worth a look-see.

For those who missed the program, Les Snell is the near exact double of Penfold in "Danger Mouse", right down to the glasses and suit. The resemblance really is uncanny.

Snell's cut and thrust in AED in the late 90s was entertaining and I thought he came across as a very likable and intelligent rogue. While he was almost always economical with the truth, I cannot recall ever catching him in a direct lie. Then again, I never paid him good money for a worthless degree believing it "genuine" (then again, again. . . I suspect few did).
