..and need some help. I have just finished my MBA coursework with my dissertation grade still pending. I believe I will pass, but am still obviously not sure of my grade.
During a passive search (so far) to find a DBA or PhD program, I have noticed that most require a B average. Regretfully, so far, I am just short of that. Any leads on the following:
    1. No GPA requirement
    2. No residency requirement
    3. Regionally-accredited (or GAAP)
    4. Less than $15K USD

Need the degree to be in a business field as a general degree or perhaps with specializations in HRD, Management, Org. Leadership. Org. Behavior, etc. Not in Accounting, Statistics, etc.

thanks for your help. Haven't really seriously considered this yet, but Blahetka's success and advice on another thread has gotten me started again.

I'm confused. You say you have a GPA that is less than a B? How can you graduate? I've never heard of a school awarding a master's degree to someone with less than a B average.

Your criteria for a doctorate are rather strict, especially the one about cost. Also, you can't expect schools to ignore your academic performance in your master's degree.

You might have some success with a few of the open-admission doctorate programs, but they all cost a lot more than you're willing to spend.

The only doctoral programs likely to be less than what you want to spend are in South Africa. But it is not likely they will ignore your GPA.

If you can find a degree program that meets your criteria, please announce it here. I would be most interested.

I did not know that it was impossible to get a masters degree with anything less than a b average. Why do the doctoral programs specify a b average and a masters degree if the gpa is a given? I don't get it.
Anyway, I am to get my degree from a UK school if that has any bearing and I may actually get a b average, depending on my dissertation grade; I am pretty close to the b avg. now.

This is the first time I have heard this and I am pretty concerned. Any UK people out there that confirm this? No one ever mentioned anything about a b average at the school.

Re: your remarks Mr. Douglas, it sounds as though I am to stop my education now since I cannot get my masters degree. Apparently, my average grades are not good enough.

    John:

This board is based in the U.S., and most of the schools and programs discussed are in the U.S. You didn't state your current degree program was in the U.K. That's why I said I was confused. Thank you for clarifying. Perhaps if you'd done so initially, you wouldn't have to write the comment above, freeing you to seek the degree that meets your criteria. Again, good luck. Please share with us the one that does.

Have you looked at the Edinburgh Business School DBA (http://www.ebsdba.com/)

Does meet 3 out of 4

    1. No GPA requirement
    2. No residency requirement
    3. Regionally-accredited (or GAAP)

No, I have not looked at EBS yet, just started thinking (and not thinking) about it. Ironically, the MBA at EBS is the first dl program I had ever heard of and Professor Kennedy has been helpful in the past, so I will surely look at them.

Mr. Douglas, I am sorry for my post and its tone. No offense intended, but I can see that it would read that way. I was majorly concerned, but I think I am going to be OK. Awaiting word from school.

    thanks, John
