Update on my LL.M. Today I sent in my enrollment and 620 UK pounds to LTO for tuition in Criminology and Sentencing and Criminal Process. Actual tuition starts January 2005 for examination in August 2005. LTO sent me some samples; it looks like exactly what I need. I don't understand, though, why they think 30 weeks is enough to prepare two subjects. I guess I'm going to find out!
30 weeks is the length of the standard university year of three terms in the UK. You're getting the same amount of tuition as the full-timers would at LSE or any of the other colleges without the vacations. Angela
Thanks for the update. Have they advised you yet who the tutors are for the two subjects? Tutorials start in January? One thing I found with LTO is that they work you hard. I'm still awaiting exam results, but hopefully it paid off. I cannot imagine how much work the LLM must be.
agilham: Thanks for the explanation. In other words, I will have the same load as a resident part-time student. That's comforting! novemberdude No, they haven't identified the tutors yet. I'll let you know when they do.
I am back in the swim for the exams next year on Torts, Land Law, and Public Law. I have purchased some texts from Old Bailey Press on the areas. The need for updates and current notes will be an issue closer to the exam date. The last exam prep exhausted me but I passed (just in one some subject). LTO is good, and there are other providers who are unfortunately too expensive for this student. I will have to rely on revision books and annoying lawyers I know about topics I don't understand. I dread to think how hard the LLM is, I don't think I will be going beyond the LLB stage. I would be interested to know how others are doing and would be willing to exchange notes with those studying in my current area.
