Subject says it all. Basically, I'm wondering if there's any idea or ref's to job prospects, salary ranges, etc. for DL JD recipients. (In California, especially) That is, if there is any real discreptancy between entry-level DL JD's and traditional JD's.
This would be a very interesting research project. There are a number of salary-by-school studies out there but I don't know if any of them cover D/L schools. A D/L degree will probably NOT qualify the holder for an associate position at a major (ie high paying) firm but then, a JD from a relatively obscure state ABA school won't either. I have seen federal, state and local job descriptions that limit applicants to those holding an ABA degree; frankly, I question whether they mean it. There are D/L trained lawyers at all levels of government working as lawyers. If you get over the hurdle of the application, the D/L lawyer should receive the same treatment as any other licensed attorney. In underlawyered areas (believe me, they exist) no one is likely to CARE where you got your degree. The license and your reputation are all that matter.
Hence the saying, if there's one lawyer in town he goes broke, but if there are two they'll both get rich. -=Steve=-
