Finally finished all of my MBA coursework about two months ago, and I put the final touches on my dissertation today! Started about 2 years ago with no degree at all and because of this board, I will now have a graduate degree-the first in my family to do so. Thanks very much everyone. It has been a long while since I partcipated here ( due to coursework, work, and family), but I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks! Thinking about a PhD, but man, my brain is toast! John
John - AWESOME!!!!! The doctorate is more difficult than I ever thought, but go for it!!! (maybe take some time off to celebrate!!!)
Thanks Han, Yes, I need a break. My wife is due with our second child (I have a 3 year old) in October. Also, I am looking for a new job. Obviously, I will wait until both situations are a little more 'settled' before I tackle the doctorate. BTW, where are you enrolled? Perhaps I could consider them. thanks, John
Hi John, Well done - I know we communicated quite a bit regarding your choices etc. Has it really been 2 years - my God! Conga rats! Cheers, George
Congratulations, indeed. You know, there are so many wonderful success stories among the 100,000+ messages here. If someone would harvest and organize and edit these, it would be an inspirational and very useful book. No, not me. I'm booked (literally, figuratively) for the next few years. But I'll be glad to offer advice.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. John Bear got me on this track years ago when I read his book. Didn't do anything about it until some life changes and this forum. Guys like George Brown, Uncle Janko, John Roberts, Professor Kennedy and others helped me along the way. Honestly, without the support and advice here, I would not have made it! Now, I have better opportunity to gain great positions within my field, but more importantly, I feel that I have achieved something. Anyone out there not finished with their educational goals just yet; keep going!! Someone asked about my track. I did the BA in 4 weeks thing at Excelsior and the MBA at Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh. There were several options re: the MBA, but QMUC seemed the most appropriate to my field and the least expensive. They were a bit nonresponsive in the beginning, but I have grown to appreciate their efforts. I wanted to do this on my own, and I got it!! thanks again, I hope to be around the board some more and would love to help someone in my past position! Don't know much about other programs like some on the board, but I do know what worked for me.
Congratulations! Dude, you've made it! Enjoy your degree...enjoy your new baby (May it be healthy and happy as can be)...and enjoy your time off from studies, because you know you will be right back at it working on that PhD before you know it! Hey, Maybe you can add "Degree Info" into the Baby's name somewhere...Just Kidding! Regards
Ya know, for the longest time, and even now, I never really considered at doctorate. However, now that I am done with the MBA, it pops into my head now and then. On the surface, I don't think I could do it, but I keep thinking about it. So, after some rest, I will probably consider it seriously. Thanks again everyone! We have our 4-D ultrasound next week, can't wait to see what the little dude looks like!
