I had been looking for a DL course for a Bachelors in Criminal Justice for weeks...I found Canyon College. Their course descriptions were right on the mark, the price was right, the faculty member I chose to do a background check (in my area!)passed with flying colors and the customer service rep I "chatted" with made the program seem suitable. What stopped me? The old "too good to be true" syndrome. I went online and searched and found this forum. Within 10 minutes, I was throughly convinced the program was a sham. THANK YOU!!!! I thought this was going to be easy. Now, I have to choose between the following programs: Utica Economic Crime Investigation, Fort Hays BS in Justice Studies...or make myself exhausted and go to Brick & click CUNY- John Jay. Any thoughts about Utica or Fort Hays? Thanks again for the wonderful forum. I hope I can one day help someone as much as I've been helped. Suzanne
I can't assess the programs, but Florida Southeastern Gulf (that name isn't quite right) and California University in Pennsylvania also have similar programs. Most of the talk here about Fort Hays is positive. Welcome aboard.
Hi New Jersey - There a lot of Bachelors degree programs in Criminal Justice available through DL. I'm not sure if you're thinking about Utica or Fort Hays for a specific reason or if they're the only ones of which you are aware. In either case, Bellevue U Bemidji U Cal State U - Fresno COSC C of West Virginia Empire State C Florida Gulf Coast U (is this it, Uncle?) Griffith U Judson College NY Inst. of Tech. Roger Williams U Upper Iowa U Washington State U These are just the US programs. With so many available it would seem unnecessary to go abroad. Good luck. Columbia Southern University offers a very affordable Criminal Justice program and its accredited by DETC
Thank you! Thank you for the responses. I will look into the programs suggested. The main reason I looked into Utica is the BS degree offered in Economic Crime Investigation. I also considered Champlains Digital Forensic Course...but, at $27K...whew! I'm going to review some other CJ courses at the schools suggested. I am very interested in Risk Management and Loss Prevention. Thanks again. I look forward to more helpful posts and possibly contributing. Suzanne
The CSU Fresno program isn't practical unless you live in California's Central Valley. It is not an online program. It's really only a reasonable choice for students at one of the CSUF satellites. Yes, it is distance learning, but it still requires seat time. Tom Nixon (CSUF alum twice over)
