    Hi,

I have applied to several schools to start my Master's of Education. I want to do take Walden University's program, and have been accepted. Does anyone have any experience with their programs? Would you recommend this university? Has anyone completed their program??

    Thanks,

    Ramona

I am enrolled in Walden's PhD in Public Health Program. I started this summer. I am very pleased so far. They respond to questions immediately. I am from Ga. and I know that 1500 Ga. school teachers are enrolled in Walden's masters and PhD programs in Education.

I earned my MPH at Emory University, a traditional brick and mortar class. I have gotten more feedback and interaction with my teacher in the first 2 months than I got in 2 years in Emory's Public Health program.

I love it and higly recommend it. It is pricy, but I have been able to get student loans.

    Hello Ramona,

My wife just graduated in June from Walden with her MS in Education. She absolutely loved it! The professors were always available and responded fairly quickly (except for one!). The great thing about Walden is they have a "Tuition Pay" program that allows you to pay the entire amount over the life of your program. For us, it came out to about $420 a month for her to complete her Master's degree. I would definitely say she would reccomend Walden to you!

I've never taken a class at Walden, so I have no experience there, but I know there are many traditional "brick-and-mortar" schools that offer online MEd degrees, you do not have to go the for-profit route. Check out USN's online search tool and fill in your criteria. Many of these are cheaper than Walden--and I know I may start a firestorm here--and most are more highly-regarded. Traditional institutions that offer online degrees are still better received, particularly in academia, than pure online institutions; this just can't be explained away or ignored.

The USN site lists 111 schools that offer an online MEd. These include: The University of Indiana, Michigan State, Florida State, University of Missouri, several schools in the University of Texas System, two schools in the University of Massachusetts System, Mississippi State, Oregon State, Penn State, University of Arkansas, University of Illinois, University of Wyoming, University of Nebraska, University of North Carolina-Charlotte, North Carolina A & T, etc. etc.--there are tons of well-known, well-regarded state schools offering online Ed Masters. Some are just dirt cheap: North Carolina A & T and University of Wyoming less than $150/ cr hr--compare with Walden at twice the price!

    Walden is an accredited school.

As someone pointed out there are less expensive options. I believe that Western Governers University is less expensive and has on line Master in Education in several areas. It is also accredited.

But if you want online vs brick and mortar, Walden is a good way to go. I am now into my 2nd quarter and love it. I really am glad I choose Walden. I took months to research it and agonized over it. I do not regret enrolling with Walden. I recently discovered that my son's sister inlaw got her Master of Education with Walden. She loved Walden also. I am in the PhD program in Public Health.
