    Hi everyone!

Has anyone had expereince in deaing with the above website? Has anyone found it helpful at all?

Please let me know if it is worth suscribing to it for my spouse and son (who want to earn CLEP credits)

    Thanks.

  2. I've found it of value for Humanities, Western Civ I and II, Micro/Macro (some), Management, Marketing, Business Law and some of the DANTES exams (Drug/Alcohol, Criminal Justice, H2YH, Supervision, Stats).

If your spouse and son are going to do a series of exams, it's not a bad source if you can get past some of the typos, especially if you share the account between the two of them.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dr Gina,
I used www.instantcert.com and overall, i would highly recommend the service. I used it to prepare for Business Law, Eng Comp, Dantes: Principles of Supervision, Business Finance (Not very good), and about 5 other exams. It helped on all but one. For Business Finance it was worthless, but on every other one, I loved it. It's important to really read the questions because the CLEP and Dantes were worded differently, but with the same essential question. For $20 a month, you can get 4-6 exams covered quickly. Ii also believe they have a 30 day guarantee, s o if you don't like it, or use it, ask for a refund. Good luck :)

I used InstantCert for a couple of CLEPs, but I didn't really like their interface or their philosophy (just grind questions until you "get it"). It's a little more expensive, but I just bought a book on the subject I was planning to CLEP and read it for a few nights before taking the exam. The nice thing about that was that afterwards, I had a nice collection of books that I could pass to my brothers and sisters. I couldn't have done that with an InstantCert subscription without continuing to pay month after month.

I have also heard in other forums that much of their material is plagarized from other test prep books. I don't know anything about the authenticity of those claims, but I would encourage you to do your own investigation.

Its a good tool, but not the silver bullet for passing an exam.

If used to augment other study efforts (reading materials), then it is a nice way to reinforce concepts. Especially since they generally explain why you answered wrong.

One nitpicking item - going "back" to a previous question hoses your test score ...

As far as the plagiarism issue, I do know that I first used instacert to study for marketing and management. I noticed quite a number of questions that appeared to be lifted from the COMEX books on the same subject ... FWIW.

    Cheers.

I used InstaCert extensively this spring when I tested out of about 100 hours in 5 weeks. I went through at least 15 of their course reviews in order to cram it all in as quickly as possible. As stated before...it's no silver bullet...but if you have familiarity with the material from other learning opportunities and you carefully read the answers to the questions...it can definitely give you the edge to score WELL above the passing score without having to buy a ton of study guides.

I think it was well worth the money. I also liked that when I was finished with the tests that I wanted to use it for, they were very quick to cancel my subscription and not charge my credit card for further months. They even let me finish out what I had paid for the current month.

Now if only they had had a study guide for Thomas Edison's Production/Operations Management test. Then I wouldn't be short 1 lousy class for graduation. Sigh. Really should have studied for that one.

  7. I hear you...that one was so broad as well as deep. I'm waiting with baited breath to hear my results...

There are several websites offering test prep services online. A web search will turn up quite a few. You might look at /iStudySmart . Hard to compare the 2 since they're not really in the same league together. iStudySmart is more a true study course material. Course for course it's more costly...but if you're going to take several tests...the yearly rates aren't too bad when compared to other material.
