The "Golden State" is California's nickname. But I have never heard of a 'Golden State University' operating here. There's a regionally accredited Golden Gate University in San Francisco that offers many DL programs in business related fields. It's legitimate. http://www.ggu.edu The BPPVE has approved six schools with 'Golden State' in their names: Entries 1 - 6 of 6 SCHOOL NAMEPHONECITYCOUNTY ___GOLDEN STATE COLLEGE (559) 735-3818 VISALIA TULARE ___GOLDEN STATE COLLEGE OF COURT REPORTING & CAPTIONING 925 831-9029 DUBLIN ALAMEDA ___GOLDEN STATE CONTRACTORS SCHOOL (619) 296-9811 SAN DIEGO SAN DIEGO ___GOLDEN STATE CONTRACTORS SCHOOL (760) 598-9330 VISTA SAN DIEGO ___GOLDEN STATE SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY (209) 931-1888 STOCKTON SAN JOAQUIN ___GOLDEN STATE TRUCK SCHOOL (888) 595-7447 ATWATER MERCED Entries 1 - 6 of 6 Of these, only Golden State School of Theology offers degree programs and it apparently operates under a religious exemption. I did a Google search for 'Golden State University' and got Golden Gate University's website. I didn't see a website for a Golden State University, but I did find many references to people boasting degrees from 'Golden State University'. Judging from context, I'd guess that a lot of these are really Golden Gate graduates. I did a search at CHEA and the only 'Golden State' they have in their data-base is the Golden State College in Visalia Ca., accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). But it doesn't grant degrees.
I looked at the Golden State University website and I am left to wonder after looking at the degree programs: what the heck is a degree in healthcare management (cosmetic)? One can get a MS or Doctorate of Science in this field. Hmm.
Thanks. This is nice. This wonder even shows you a sample diploma, but they somehow forget to provide their address. But they already have plenty of regional representatives in Asia and a "registered office" in the British Virgin Islands. http://www.goldenstateuniversity.edu/contact%20us.htm On their 'accreditation' page they tell us: Golden State University is legally enabled to confer Associate, Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees on all students who have met the graduation requirements of the university. But on their 'contact us' page they say: The University is in the process of seeking State Approval within a jurisdiction of the United States. I guess that they are operating on the basis of a BVI business license. Their 'accreditation' page boasts membership in several European educational organizations and even offers to show you the membership certificates. There's also a mysterious "scientific" organization that may be operating out of France. http://www.goldenstateuniversity.edu/accredition.htm WHOIS revealed: Domain Name: GOLDENSTATEUNIVERSITY.EDU Registrant: Golden State University 1802 , N.Carson Street , Suite 212-2607 Carson City, NV 89701 UNITED STATES Contacts: Administrative Contact: K E Golden State University 1802 , N.Carson Street , Suite 212-2607 Carson City, NV 89701 UNITED STATES (775) 887-0670 [email protected] Technical Contact: Technical Operations ReadyHosting.com 1015 - 65th Street Kenosha, WI 53143 UNITED STATES (262) 652-7640 [email protected] Name Servers: NS1.READYHOSTING.COM NS2.READYHOSTING.COM Domain record activated: 31-Aug-2001 Domain record last updated: 30-Dec-2001 Interestingly, the WHOIS I did last night for the American Association of Interational Medical Graduates had this registrant: Registrant: AAIMG 1802 N. Carson Street Carson City, Nevada 89701 United States I can't say whether this means that the AAIMG is related to Golden State University or whether the GSU address was chosen by somebody who would like people to think so. But it does suggest that there is some kind of occult connection between Golden State University and the murky world of off-shore medical schools.
Here's what's at 1802 N. Carson St., Suite 212, Carson City NV: http://www.companiesinc.com/contactus.asp A branch office of Companiesinc.com, who advertise same-day online business incorporations. http://www.companiesinc.com/aboutus.asp The same people are doing business under the name Offshorecorporation.com http://www.offshorecorporation.com/p_contactus.html
When California operated a 3-tier system, there was a school by that name with State Authorization. When the "Authorized" category was eliminated, they "moved" to Hawaii. Bears' guides have tracked this history. It is not clear if this outfit is somehow connected, but I guess it doesn't really matter. Their website makes no claims about accreditation (that I can see, but they do list several affiliations in an attempt to give the appearance of legitimacy) and says they're seeking a state in the U.S. to approve them. (They must not be looking very hard. Or, maybe, they're looking alphabetically and haven't gotten to Wyoming yet.) They say they're legally entitled to award degrees, but fail to mention the source. Is there anything about this that suggests they're legitimate?
An Australian newspaper article found that Golden State was, at one time, run by one Ian Mackechnie (sic?), ex Vice Chancellor of Greenwich University. The contact details for the university were his mobile phone number, which was traced to a leafy suburb of Melbourne. Cheers, George
Malaysiaon operators are the same who were selling degree of Greenwich and Honolulu University. Off course they have change their company name from Shermont to Power Business Program but address is the same. Rumors have been around that they are getting license from State of Wyoming....wonderful. Peter Chin
The Ian Mackechnie who was apparently running this school and who was apparently running Greenwich on Norfolk, and left Greenwich after being, I think the polite term is 'discredited' for certain things in his past.
I think Ian Mackechnie decided to migrate to Malaysia after the collapse of Greenwich and decided to form the Golden State University in partnership with his "discredited" Malaysian partner who was shut down by department of education of Malaysia a year ago. Peter Chin
No, of course it does not have LAN approval; just like every other unaccredited school running in Malaysia. How they get away with it is something Peter may be able to throw some legal light upon. My reliable sources also tell me that McKechnie is no longer connected with Golden State University. He did spend some time in Malaysia but rumours have it that he has had enough of unacredited schools and has gone into some other business elsewhere...
No accreditation, no State approval or authorisation, uncertain 'home', no obvious degree granting status - it all adds up to a waste of time and money!
Hi I completed my degree from this University Via CMCE, India (Golden state university ) I wanted to migrated to Australia .So my question is ,If this degree accepted in Australia ?
